Buenos Aires is a paradise for gourmands and oenophiles who are drawn from around the world by the oh-so delicious asado and Malbec and more. Are you so busy planning those wine tastings and 3 (or 4 or 5) meals per day that you haven’t thought about where to stay? If you’re looking for more than just a place to hang your hat at night, follow our travel guide to the best hotels in the city for food and wine lovers.

A Secret in Soho: Miravida Soho

If you’re the type of traveller looking for a home away from home, the Miravida is for you. Tucked away in a quiet part of Palermo Soho, this classic house was renovated to become one of the best boutique hotels in BA with its six unique, stylish rooms. While it does not have a full-time restaurant, a lavish breakfast is served every morning, and at night guests can enjoy its intimate wine bar, with an offering from boutique vineyards around Argentina, carefully selected by the owner herself. Don’t be afraid to ask about happy hour specials and wine tastings led by the in-house sommelier – the staff will bend over backwards to make sure you get the VIP experience.

Little Hotel, Big Culinary Experience: Fierro Hotel

Palermo Hollywood is a haven for hip eaters and bar goers, and the Fierro Hotel is one of its jewels. A cool and comfortable space, Fierro is where out of town guests get to enjoy what locals keep coming back for. Its celebrated restaurant is under the direction of Irish chef Edward Holloway, who keeps it fresh by reinventing the menu and hosting unique culinary events, like their famous weekend brunch (now including an Irish breakfast option). The wine cellar is equally impressive, counting over 2500 bottles and curated by the President of the Argentine Association of Sommeliers, Andrés Rosberg. Now that summer is upon us, make sure to loiter on a Friday night and you’ll enjoy the exclusive garden lounge happy hours with house cocktails, tapas and a DJ.

Cosmopolitan Done Right: Four Seasons

The Four Seasons in Buenos Aires upholds its brand name to go toe to toe with its global locations in terms of exclusive feel, and world-class service in a dreamy locale. Guests and locals alike enjoy acclaimed dining options at its two restaurants: Elena, which serves Argentine dishes with an international flair, and Nuestro Secreto, a beautiful garden spot where you can eat the beef Argentina is famous for until your heart’s content. Both restaurants offer a Sunday brunch of epic portions. The recently redesigned equestrian-inspired Pony Line Bar is the perfect spot to sip a happy hour cocktail or glass of bubbly while you fantasize about jet setting with the polo circuit. Don’t forget to take advantage of daytime specials, which undoubtedly include a glass of wine from the bodega… because it’s 5 o’clock somewhere.

A Piece of Spain in San Telmo: Sagardi Loft Osteria

It’s easy to wax nostalgic walking around historic San Telmo, so step into the beautiful bar in Sagardi to experience what the city could have been if it had kept more of its Spanish influence into modernity. A bastion of modern Basque cuisine in Buenos Aires, Sagardi has a beautiful wooden bar with over 80 constantly evolving seasonal dishes, which pair perfectly with a glass of wine or cider. If you can get past the pintxos, the restaurant in the back is equally rich in innovation and style. When you’re too full to go home, ask them to put you up at the Osteria Lofts attached to the restaurant. Rooms are modern and sleek, arranged around an interior courtyard that will make your inevitable Instagram photo shoot a sensation. Sitting poolside on their rooftop with a view of the 19th century San Pedro church, you’ll forget you’re not staying with an Iberian duke.

Palatial Wining and Dining: Park Hyatt – Palacio Duhau

Located in a palace in an exclusive part of town, the Park Hyatt is a luxurious destination with culinary offerings fit for royalty. Restaurant options include the Salones del Piano Nobile, perfect for light fare and tea time, the Gioia Restaurante and Terraces, serving modern Italian cuisine in al fresco environment, as well as the Duhau Restaurante, which features high-quality beef for sophisticated Argentine fare. Don’t miss an intimate wine tasting in the Vinoteca, featuring both local and international wines, paired with small plates and cheeses that can be ogled in their singular Cheese Room. Not enough? They also have special Masters of Food and Wine events, which are interactive culinary events; coming up later this year is a four-day Tango and Polo experience, to immerse guests in the best Argentina has to offer.

A Feast for the Senses: Faena Hotel

When in the mood to overindulge all your senses, the sensual Faena is the place for you. The industrial, gallery-like Puerto Madero property has two distinct dining options: El Mercado, a celebration of Argentine cuisine with wood-fired asado in an eclectic nod to a cantina, and the Philippe Starck-designed Bistro Sur, which counts on innovative globally-inspired dishes and wine pairings. In the evening, you can enjoy a drink at the lush Library Lounge or the swank Poolbar, before seeing Rojo Tango, arguably the sexiest tango show in the city at the 1920s-inspired El Cabaret. If you still really want to pull out all the stops for the wine lover in your life, book a private candlelit dinner or tasting in La Cava, among 4000 bottles of fine wine. After all, the only guests known to have ever left unhappy are the Beliebers.
